🇿🇦 NFYFC TRAVEL 🇱🇰
Over the past month, four of our members have been on NFYFC travel trips.
🇿🇦Bea, from Wadebridge & Hannah, from Camelford visited South Africa headed on a 12 day conservation trip where they slept under the stars on the on the Mongena Game Reserve. They spent their time undertaking practical & theory sessions on wildlife & plants, exploring the reserve by jeep & by foot, observing and identifying the sights sounds. They were educated on a huge range of topics - ecology, taxonomy, biomes, reptiles, amphibians, birds, mammals, fish, behaviour, tracking and signs, conservation management, bush cooking, and, of course, guiding. Both Bea & Hannah came home having achieved their ‘Cyber Tracker Assessment’ certificate too! 👏 🦁🐘🐆
🇱🇰Beth, from Callington & Louise, from Liskeard, spent two weeks volunteering in Sri Lanka. In their first week, they were based in a care centre near Kulapitya helping with a community garden by planting, weeding, composting & harvesting produce. As well as helping with the garden, Beth & Louise spent lots of time with the children organising arts & crafts & playing varied sports. In their second week, they helped local farmers with sustainable & organic methods and even hand pollinated passion fruits! 🌷 🥕 ✨
🌟 Please do remember that these opportunities are open to all members aged over 18….. keep your eyes peeled for this year’s applications! 👀 #WhatYFCReallyDo

The group also got the opportunity to travel to Pokhara, the city built at the edge of Phewa Lake, in the foothills of the Annapurna range in the Himalayas; visiting ancient Hindu and Buddhist temples, taking boat trips on the lake and enjoying the amazing views.

“Your efforts have brought so much joy and pleasure to people who are facing one of the darkest days of their lives”
As a Federation we are so proud to see the efforts of all our members having such a positive impact within the local community.
Last year, the Headland Unit at Treliske was one of the many beneficiaries from Cornwall YFC’s fundraising, and we have been extremely heartened to receive letters and social media posts thanking our members for their hard work and diligence.
Money donated to the Unit has also been used to create wall displays in areas that patients have their chemotherapy administered - with a key theme being puffins, as the nurses within the ward are known as the ‘Puffin Nurses’.
This truly highlights what #WhatYFCReallyDo and we hope that all members involved feel proud of what they have achieved!
